As stated in our Constitution, to join the Festival Dance Teachers Association, all Teachers must pass an entrance exanimation, set by the Association.
There are three sections to the examination:
Section 1 Music Section 2 Practical Section 3 Interview
Further details of each section are detailed below. |

SECTION 1: MUSIC 20% of Total Mark.
Set Dance tunes will be played and the Candidate must name the tunes correctly with accurate timing i.e.; 4/4, 6/8
SECTION 2: PRACTICAL 60% of Total Mark.
TEACH AND DANCE:
a. For Under 11 Age Group - Any Light Step Any Heavy Step Treble Jig Set Dance
b. For Over 11 Age Group - Any Light Step Any Heavy Step Hornpipe Set Dance
c. Demonstrate teaching a beginner three's and seven's.
d. Teach two of the following teams which will be chosen on the day.

SECTION 3: INTERVIEW 20% Total Mark.
The interview is about the applicant wanting to join the Association, their ideas and aims, and their willingness to adhere to the Constitution and Rules of the Association. It endeavours to determine the aims, loyalty and support that the Association could expect from the candidate. |
